Winterreise A Journey into Winter

Müller

Like a dull cloud
Crossing a clear sky
When some light breeze
Makes the tree-tops sigh,

So, with weary tread
I make my way
Into a world that’s bright and gay,
Unwelcome and alone.

The air’s so calm,
This world’s so fair;
Then, when storms were raging,
Pain was less hard to bear.
